Suomen Sotahistoriallinen Seura ry, also known as the Association for Military History in Finland, supports military history research and public interest in the subject. The association organizes lectures, seminars and military history trips, and publishes related material. Its website provides a searchable catalogue of military history sites beyond Finland’s present-day borders, particularly in western Europe.

Visitors can browse locations by country and region or search by keyword. The catalogue covers sites across Europe, including battlefields, military facilities, memorials and other historically significant places, with descriptions and location coordinates. It was launched in 2014 and has grown from 400 entries to more than 1,600, with new information added over time.

Members and other interested visitors can suggest locations, corrections or additional details. The site also offers points-of-interest files for use with Google Maps, Maps. me, mobile devices and Garmin or TomTom navigation systems, helping users locate historical sites while travelling.

Images come mainly from the Finnish Defence Forces’ SA-Kuva archive, alongside material from other sources and private individuals
