SOUK Amsterdam Arabic Festival is a cultural festival presented by Stichting SOUK, celebrating the richness and diversity of Arab culture while creating connections between Arab and Western cultures. Its programme brings together music, storytelling, poetry, dance and visual art, drawing on traditions from the past as well as contemporary culture and the experiences of younger generations of the Arab diaspora in the Netherlands.
For its 20th anniversary, SOUK took place on 30 and 31 May 2025 at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The venue was transformed into a souk, with performances across the Concertgebouw’s Great Hall and foyers. The festival featured artists including Lebanese singer Carole Samaha, oud musician Naseer Shamma, vocalist Mohamed Al Tayeb and storyteller Fahd Larhzaoui, alongside the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, dancers and members of Het Nationale Ballet. Its musical programme combined Arab instruments and traditions with orchestral arrangements, while the foyer experience included performances, art, food and drinks. Through its editions, SOUK offers audiences an immersive encounter with Arab culture and its many contemporary expressions.
