Source Cooperative

Source Cooperative is a nonprofit data publishing utility and a Radiant Earth project, built to help researchers and organizations share and access data on the open web. Using commodity cloud object storage, it enables publishing at any scale without requiring users to build portals, run servers, or maintain APIs. Data is accessed through standard URLs and works with existing tools, supporting collaboration across governments, research institutions, commercial providers, and civil society.

The service is vendor-neutral, compatible with S3-compatible cloud providers, and designed around open formats, data ownership, and reduced reliance on proprietary systems. Its approach aims to make datasets discoverable and accessible while allowing publishers to retain control. Source supports data workflows from prototyping through public release, with pricing plans based on data volume and usage announced as forthcoming.

Source Cooperative also provides a catalog of public datasets, including geospatial mapping, crop classification, agricultural fields, and renewable energy planning data. These offerings serve researchers, data engineers, scientists, developers, and others working with shared data.
