The South Boston St. Patrick's Day/Evacuation Day Parade, proudly presented by the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council (SBAWVC), is a vibrant celebration of heritage and community. Scheduled for March 16, 2025, this beloved event brings together locals and visitors alike to honor Boston’s rich Irish history, which dates back to the first St. Patrick’s Day celebration in North America in 1737.

The parade features a variety of participants, including marching bands, floats, and local groups, creating a festive atmosphere that highlights the camaraderie of South Boston. Each year, the parade also honors a Chief Marshal, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the community. This year’s Chief Marshal is Commander Gerard (Jerry) Wheeler, a distinguished veteran with an impressive military record.

The SBAWVC organizes not just the parade but also events like the Chief Marshal’s Banquet. Support from sponsors and donations from the community are crucial to ensuring the event's success, allowing this cherished tradition to continue for years to come. Join South Boston for a memorable celebration of culture and unity!
