Southern Star Charters

Southern Star Charters offers offshore fishing trips for families, friends, and colleagues, aiming to make each outing exciting, safe, comfortable, and memorable. Based in the Jacksonville area, the company provides 8-, 10-, and 12-hour fishing charters led by Captain Scott, a lifelong angler who works to create an enjoyable experience for guests of different ages and experience levels.

Trips take place aboard a 27-foot Southport designed for open-ocean conditions. The boat’s equipment includes a GPS trolling motor, high-resolution CMOR mapping, radar, and a range of Coast Guard-required and additional safety gear. Guests can also enjoy cushioned seating and flooring, a large shaded T-top, and an onboard bathroom. The charter uses quality fishing tackle, including Star rods, Shimano and Penn reels, Yo-Zuri fluorocarbon leaders, and Mustad circle hooks.

Southern Star emphasizes efficient travel to fishing spots, family-friendly service, and clear communication about weather and sea conditions. If conditions are safe but rough, the captain says he will work with guests to reschedule for a better day or provide a refund.
