About Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation UK
Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation (STEF) is an international charity based in England that aims to promote the health and welfare of elephants in Southern Thailand. Their mission is to provide free veterinary care to improve the welfare and protect the future of elephants in the region. As the Asian elephant is an endangered species, STEF also focuses on education and conservation efforts.
Since its establishment in 2017, STEF has funded the construction of the first NGO elephant hospital in Southern Thailand, known as the STEF Veterinary Centre. Currently, the center employs two specialist vets and operates a mobile clinic that treats elephants throughout the provinces of Southern Thailand. STEF's main focus this year is to raise funds for the running costs of the hospital and the mobile clinic, including salaries for the veterinary staff, medical supplies, laboratory equipment, and fuel.
