South Shields VeloCC

South Shields Velo CC is a friendly cycling club established in 2014 and based in the North East of England. Built on “bikes and banter,” the club brings riders together for shared miles, sociable rides, and a welcoming community. Its activities cater to a range of interests, including cyclocross, time trials, road racing, longer rides, and Audax events planned throughout the year. Members can also promote and join rides during the week, with routes offering different distances, expected average speeds, and levels of elevation. Coffee and cake stops are a familiar part of the club’s ride culture.

The club supports younger cyclists through Velo Pups, a group led by qualified coaches that helps young riders develop and take part in competitions. Members are encouraged to record their rides on Strava, helping motivate participation and showcase the club’s group riding. Membership is managed through British Cycling, with an annual renewal window running from 1 to 31 January.
