Le CASA, or Collectif Associatif de Soutien aux Aidants, is an association supporting people who care for a dependent family member or loved one. It welcomes caregivers with respect and attention, regardless of age, gender, opinions, origins or beliefs. Its work recognizes the challenges of providing unpaid, day-to-day assistance to someone who is ill, disabled or otherwise dependent.
The association offers listening and guidance, including quarterly support groups across the four departments of the Poitou-Charentes region, with professionals experienced in listening. Its respite services include stays and outings for family caregivers, supported by health professionals. When needed, CASA can arrange for trained, sensitized staff to provide temporary support at home or through an adapted care facility, including urgent respite and relay assistance. The association also provides training and workshops, resources for caregivers after their caring role ends, and support for professionals and other associations.
Based in Ars-en-Saintonge, CASA shares information, testimonials and useful links, and invites the public to support its work through membership, donations or volunteering.
