Sôvenance

Forêts du Souvenir offers a natural, environmentally conscious alternative to a traditional cemetery or the unrestricted scattering of ashes. Its memorial forests provide a peaceful place of remembrance where a person’s ashes can be buried without an urn at the base of a chosen “Tree of Remembrance” or scattered in a selected area of the forest. The tree may be selected during a person’s lifetime or after their death, creating an individual, recognizable memorial site in a living landscape.

The organization supports families through each stage, from choosing a tree to arranging the burial of a loved one’s ashes, and offers guidance to people experiencing bereavement. Its forest sites are open to people of all beliefs and traditions, with no headstones or grave-maintenance obligations; nature provides the setting and care. Forêts du Souvenir also emphasizes the protection and appreciation of Swiss forests. Agreements and notarized deeds protect memorial trees from being cut down and guarantee access, helping families visit and remember their loved ones with peace of mind.
