Sown & Grown is a Houston-based farming and soil education initiative led by Becca, a farmer with nearly a decade of experience. Its work combines ecological food production, community engagement, and the study of soil science. Becca operates a two-acre production farm for the Harris County Hospital District, growing vegetables for local health programs, including the Food Pharmacy at Strawberry Clinic. Farm deliveries have included squash, zucchini, collard greens, radishes, and herbs, helping patients access fresh produce and supporting food sovereignty.

Through its Science of Soil focus, Sown & Grown shares accessible learning about the living systems beneath crops and the role of soil health in cultivation. The initiative welcomes enthusiasts and professionals to learn, share, and collaborate, while presenting Becca’s ongoing exploration as a farmer and amateur soil scientist. Its approach emphasizes ecological methods that support rather than damage soil, curiosity, transparency, and practical evidence from farming. Sown & Grown also speaks openly about food justice, community empowerment, and the need to build more equitable food systems.
