Space For Us

Space For Us is a community-centered initiative that makes astronomy and scientific discovery more accessible, particularly for communities historically excluded from these experiences. Its mission is to help people move beyond learning about the universe to actively exploring it, building curiosity, scientific confidence, and pathways into STEM.

The organization offers free public Community Nights, where people of all ages and experience levels can observe the sky through telescopes and learn alongside their community. Its programs also provide hands-on opportunities to explore astronomical technology, coding, scientific data, and mentorship. These experiences can lead to deeper participation through citizen science, research opportunities, and access to telescopes and other tools of astronomy.

Space For Us also creates educational and community experiences, including Earthbound, a 2024 dark sky exhibition in Tulsa that brought art, astronomy, and community together. The organization welcomes support through donations, sponsorships, and partnerships to bring observing events, technology, and discovery opportunities to more people. It is fiscally sponsored by Tulsa Community Foundation, which supports its charitable programs and mission.
