Sparrow Centre for Children

Sparrow Centre for Children is a child-focused mental health and counselling service in South West Sydney, supporting children aged 0–10 and their families. Its psychologists, counsellors and provisional psychologists provide developmentally sensitive care, recognising that children communicate, learn and process experiences differently from adults. Play is central to the Centre’s approach, offering children a natural way to express themselves, explore challenges and build skills.

Services include child-centred counselling, Play Therapy and group-based support. Therapists use a range of approaches tailored to each child, including Child-Centred and Integrative Play Therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, Learn to Play, EMDR-integrated Play Therapy, Positive Behaviour Support and Child Relationship Therapy. The team supports children experiencing concerns such as anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties, behavioural challenges and developmental needs. The Centre also provides information about funding and support options, including Medicare plans, the NDIS, Better Start and the Autism Initiative.
