YMCA of Greater Spartanburg

Founded in 1869, the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is one of our community’s oldest nonprofit organizations. For more than 155 years, we have been here for people, bringing neighbors together, supporting families and responding to the changing needs of the communities we serve. Today, we serve Spartanburg County, South Carolina, and Polk County, North Carolina, through four YMCA locations and programs that reach people throughout our service area. From child care, summer camp and youth sports to aquatics, health and wellness, chronic disease support and community outreach, our work is centered on helping people build confidence, form meaningful relationships and feel a true sense of belonging. We believe strong communities are built when everyone has the opportunity to participate, grow and thrive. Through financial assistance, community partnerships and the commitment of our staff, volunteers, donors and members, we work to make those opportunities accessible to all. The YMCA is more than a place to work out. It is a place where children discover their potential, families find support, people improve their well-being and neighbors become connected. Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. At the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, we have been strengthening our community since 1869, and we will continue to be here for the generations still to come. For a better us.®
