About St. Paul Community Baptist Church
St. Paul Community Baptist Church (SPCBC) is a renowned institution in East New York, Brooklyn, committed to addressing the historic struggles and survival of people of African ancestry. With a rich and impactful history, SPCBC has been at the forefront of promoting healing and understanding through their annual Commemoration of The MAAFA, a transformative theatrical experience known as The MAAFA Suite.

David K. Brawley, SPCBC has expanded the reach of The MAAFA, attracting powerful voices in social justice and inspiring other churches to create their own theatrical presentations. The church's commitment to education and empowerment extends beyond the stage, with intensive workshops on undoing racism, MAAFA Museum Tours, and visits to important historical sites.
The term MAAFA refers to the catastrophic event experienced by millions of African people during the middle passage journey from Africa to enslavement in the Americas, and SPCBC aims to raise awareness and promote healing through this commemoration.
