Specialist Substrates

Specialist Substrates is a UK aquarium substrate brand and part of Specialist Aggregates Limited. Though presented as a new name in the aquarium sector, it draws on the technical expertise of Specialist Aggregates, described as the UK’s largest source of sustainably derived sands, gravels and stone products. The brand offers natural materials for aquarium and reef setups, with products suited to a range of styles and environments.

Its featured products include Musumi White Natural Sand, a professional-quality substrate for creating a natural white, tropical beach look; black lava cobbles promoted for African cichlid aquariums and Hawaiian-style reef aquariums; and responsibly sourced pink and white barnacle clusters, sold in retail packs. The range also includes premium, water-worn dark grey riverstone pebbles that appear darker when wet. Specialist Substrates invites aquarium owners to share ideas and experiences through its #DoFishTweet community theme. The company provides product information and contact details online, along with downloadable price lists, brochures and an account application form.
