The Speech Therapy Store, founded by Melissa Berg, is a brand dedicated to providing resources and support for speech-language pathologists (SLPs). Melissa's journey to becoming a speech-language pathologist began in preschool when it was initially assumed that she was colorblind due to her lack of interest in learning colors. However, her true calling became evident when she started volunteering in an emotionally disturbed classroom in high school.
Working with a struggling student who refused to engage with others, Melissa realized the impact she could make in the lives of students facing similar challenges. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in speech-language pathology. Melissa's educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from the University of Oregon, followed by a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University.
With over 10 years of experience as an SLP, Melissa has worked in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high school. During her CFY year, she supported a large caseload of 105 students, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her profession. To further assist SLPs and reach a wider audience, Melissa has created her own lesson plans and year-long curriculums.
Although she is currently on a hiatus as a stay-at-home mom, Melissa's passion for her field led her to create a blog aimed at supporting and inspiring fellow SLPs. The Speech Therapy Store's resources and blog provide a valuable toolkit for SLPs, aiming to make their lives easier one material at a time
