Speed Skating Alberta (SSA) is the provincial sport organization dedicated to promoting and supporting amateur speed skating across Alberta. Established in 1955 and incorporated as a not-for-profit society in 1973, SSA serves over 1,400 members, including skaters, coaches, officials, and volunteers from 14 community clubs. The organization manages both long and short track disciplines and strives to ensure that all participants have the opportunity to reach their highest potential.

Based at the Olympic Oval in Calgary, SSA is a proud member of Speed Skating Canada and adheres to the principles of Long Term Athlete Development and True Sport values, fostering a collaborative and safe environment. SSA offers a range of resources and support aimed at optimizing athlete development, whether for recreational participants or those aspiring to compete at national and international levels. Through good governance and fiscal management, SSA continues to advocate for the sport, nurturing the growth of speed skating in communities throughout Alberta.
