Speltherapie Friesland

Speltherapie Friesland is a child therapy practice based in Heerenveen, offering play therapy for children approximately three to twelve years old who face emotional, social or trauma-related difficulties, or risk becoming stuck in their development. Led by therapist Else Goossensen, the practice provides a consistent point of contact for children and their parents or caregivers.

Play therapy uses play as a way for children to communicate, explore thoughts and feelings, process experiences and practise new behaviours. In a safe, accepting environment, children guide their own therapeutic process and can express themselves at their own pace. The approach aims to support self-esteem, development and the processing of difficult events.

Parents and caregivers are closely involved where possible, helping them better understand their child’s needs. Parent-child play therapy may also be included to support the relationship between them. Speltherapie Friesland describes its work as professional, experience-based and non-verbal, and welcomes families from diverse backgrounds.
