SPES

Spes, the Swedish National Association for Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support, offers support to people who have lost someone to suicide and works to help prevent further loss. Its approach is shaped by people with lived experience, connecting those who are grieving with others who understand.

The organisation provides several ways to find support, including a telephone helpline open daily, an online chat, local and digital conversation groups, and contact people. Some groups are tailored for young adults and LGBTQI+ participants. Attendance is free, and people can join without becoming members or sharing more than they feel comfortable with. Spes also shares information and resources about suicide, grief, supporting bereaved people and suicide prevention, including materials that can be ordered at no cost.
