Spirit Hills is a family-owned winery in Alberta’s Rocky Mountain Foothills, operated by the Bonjean family, whose heritage includes generations of French winemaking. Drawing on the region’s wildflowers and the family’s connection to the land, the winery creates distinctive flower wines as an alternative to traditional grape wine.
Its range includes red, white, rosé, sangria and mulled wines, made with ingredients such as honey, handpicked flower petals and black currants. The wines are crafted through a careful process that includes fermenting honey nectar and, for some varieties, aging in oak barrels. Spirit Hills describes its wines as balanced and complex, with aromatic character and a smooth finish. They are enjoyed on their own, alongside food or in cocktails, and are featured at fine-dining restaurants.
Visitors can book winery tours and tastings at the tasting room. Spirit Hills also sells its wines through its online shop and selected stores, and offers a wine club. Its work brings together Alberta-grown character, flower-based winemaking and the Bonjean family’s European heritage.
