The International Spirit of Math® Contest is a global mathematics competition for students in Grades 1–8, open to all children whether or not they attend Spirit of Math® Schools. First launched in 1999, it has grown to include participants in 47 countries and territories, with more than 19,000 students worldwide in 2026. Students can write the contest at their school or, depending on their country, at a contest centre or partner-hosted venue. Schools can register online and receive support with contest papers, marking, certificates and results.

Each grade group completes a timed multiple-choice paper, with no penalty for incorrect answers and no calculators permitted. Students are recognised through participation certificates and grade-based awards, while top performers may be invited to compete in the Global Round. The brand also offers a Virtual Practice Centre with video lessons, topic quizzes and past contests, featuring free and premium preparation resources for Grades 1–8. Through international partners, the contest connects young problem-solvers with a shared opportunity to challenge themselves and celebrate mathematical achievement.
