The Slovenský plynárenský a naftový zväz (SPNZ) is a prominent independent association representing companies and professionals in the gas and oil sectors in Slovakia. Established in 1993 from the transformation of the Czechoslovak Gas and Oil Association, SPNZ embodies a rich history dating back to 1919 when Czech and Slovak gas engineers laid the groundwork for this industry. The organization focuses on industrial and communal applications of natural gas and oil, engaging in research, concept development, design, construction, and operation of relevant facilities.

SPNZ also serves its members, which include gas and oil suppliers, distributors, device manufacturers, and service providers. To promote industry excellence, SPNZ annually hosts a competition for the best thesis project, inspiring students to tackle contemporary issues in the gas and oil sectors. Additionally, SPNZ publishes the only Slovak gas magazine and maintains a portal with the latest industry news, making it a vital resource for professionals and stakeholders in Slovakia’s energy landscape.
