Spolok SEPTENTRIO is a civic association focused on preserving and presenting the cultural heritage of northern Slovakia. Registered in 2016, its name comes from the Latin word for “north,” reflecting its regional scope. The association aims to strengthen public understanding of local history, protect historic and cultural values, and support education, regional development, and heritage tourism.

Its work includes developing projects that promote archaeological sites and research, seeking grants, and collaborating with local and state authorities, specialists, and cultural organisations. SEPTENTRIO also offers educational programmes and lectures, and organises discussions, seminars, exhibitions, and conferences. It publishes research findings and information materials, and maintains digital databases about the history of towns and villages, monuments, and archaeological sites. Its online resources include articles, historical maps, profiles of notable people, and Septenpedia, covering areas such as Horné Považie, Kysuce, Liptov, Orava, and Turiec. Through these activities, the association connects research with public engagement and encourages the appreciation and safeguarding of northern Slovakia’s tangible and intangible heritage.
