Sporting Spirit

Sporting Spirit Ski Team Disabili Lombardia APS is an Italian amateur sports association founded in 2004 to share a passion for sport and the mountains through adaptive alpine skiing. Based in Milan, it supports people with physical and motor disabilities, including children and young people with spina bifida, in discovering and developing their skiing abilities. The association organizes annual introductory and advanced ski courses led by experienced instructors, athletes and volunteers.

Its multidisciplinary team includes ski instructors, physiotherapists, first-aid professionals and other specialists, who contribute their skills and support one another to provide a safe sporting experience. Participants can learn about and use the monoski, with athletes accompanied on the slopes by association volunteers registered with FISIP, seated demonstrators and qualified ski instructors. Sporting Spirit also shares photographs and information about its courses and activities, with sessions held at mountain locations including Alpe di Siusi and Plan de Corones.

The association says it was the first in Italy to offer these courses, helping make alpine skiing more accessible to people with physical disabilities
