Spreydon Lodge

Spreydon Lodge is a New Zealand standardbred breeding and training establishment with a long-standing role in the country’s harness racing industry. Established in the mid-1980s by Wayne Francis as the home of Franco Harness Racing Stables and Franco Breeding, the operation is now based near West Melton and continues under Wayne’s estate as a legacy to his work. Spreydon Lodge breeds and develops standardbred horses, manages broodmares, provides training, and participates in racing and syndicates. It is also active in yearling sales, producing horses for buyers and racing careers in New Zealand and overseas.

The Lodge has bred numerous notable performers, including Miracle Mile winner Franco Tiger and three-time Grand Circuit winner Franco Ice, as well as Harness Jewels winners and multiple age-group award recipients. Its yearlings have also achieved strong sale results, including Franco Stallone, the 2017 New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale topper at $190,000. Recognised as a leading breeder, Spreydon Lodge has earned industry awards and continues to share news about its horses, racing results, and sales graduates.
