Spring Back Recycling is a brand that focuses on providing an environmentally friendly alternative to landfills for used mattresses. They collect mattresses from various sources, including retailers, hotels, universities, government institutions, and individuals, and then disassemble them. Each material from the mattresses, such as foam, steel, cotton, and felt, is separated and placed into its own material baler. The recycled materials are then sold to respective material buyers and repurposed into well-known products like carpet underlay, insulation, and new metal goods. Spring Back takes pride in recycling over 90% of each mattress and box spring they receive, giving new life to old materials that would otherwise take up valuable landfill space.
However, Spring Back Recycling is more than just a recycling business. They provide transitional employment opportunities for disenfranchised men, including formerly incarcerated individuals, recovering drug addicts, and homeless veterans. By offering stable job opportunities, Spring Back aims to become a stepping stone for individuals seeking to re-enter society and achieve financial independence. They focus on creating a high-functioning team environment and providing essential work experience in managing people, processes, and time. Each Spring Back location is also partnered with a non-profit organization that offers holistic support to workers. Currently, there are four Spring Back locations, providing jobs for over 20 men.
Spring Back Recycling hopes to continue expanding throughout the United States and encourages communities to reach out if they believe the brand is a good fit. They believe that employment is integral to an individual's identity and that everyone deserves a chance to be proud of their contribution to society. By creating job opportunities for disenfranchised populations, Spring Back aims to make a positive impact on both the lives of the employees and the environment. Through their sustainable waste diversion business model, Spring Back Recycling strives to meet the needs of various organizations and contribute to a sustainable environment for future generations.
