Sproule Studios

Sproule Studios is the creative practice of artist and teacher April Sproule, focused on mixed media and textile arts. Rooted in skills April learned from her grandmother—including sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, lace making, and embroidery—the studio brings traditional handwork into contemporary artistic exploration. April shares her knowledge and ongoing discoveries through workshops, presentations, blog posts, and tutorials, welcoming participants at all skill levels.

Workshops cover mixed media textile collage, surface design, color and design fundamentals, Japanese Notan principles, hand stitching, and creative mending. Offerings include in-person classes and retreats, such as a five-day textile collage retreat and a one-day workshop on repairing and reimagining clothing with Boro-style stitching. These sessions help participants develop creative techniques while giving textiles renewed beauty and usefulness.

The studio also features a shop, including The Bird Collection, and galleries showcasing mixed media textiles, stitched textiles, wearable art, and painted textiles.
