About Zoo Vienna Schönbrunn
Tiergarten Schönbrunn, also known as Zoo Vienna, is the world’s oldest zoo, located within the historic Schönbrunn imperial summer residence in Vienna. It brings culture and nature together, offering visitors the chance to explore habitats and meet more than 500 animal species, including many that are threatened. The zoo also supports species survival through conservation, research, education and breeding programmes.
Visitors can plan their trip with online tickets, combined ticket options, opening information and guidance on travel, dining and shopping. Experiences include guided tours, behind-the-scenes visits, evening and night tours, feeding sessions, workshops and special activities for children, families, schools and kindergartens. The grounds feature animal areas such as the elephant and giraffe parks, Polarium, rainforest house, aquariums and terrariums, alongside play spaces and a nature trail.
Beyond visitor experiences, Tiergarten Schönbrunn offers ways to support its work, including donations, animal sponsorships, corporate partnerships and volunteering. Its blend of wildlife encounters, learning and conservation makes the zoo a destination for visitors of varied ages and interests.
