About Salt River Pima
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is a sovereign tribe located in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Established in 1879, SRPMIC operates as a full-service government overseeing various departments, programs, projects, and facilities. The community spans 52,600 acres, with 19,000 acres preserved as natural land.
With a rich history and culture, SRPMIC is made up of two Native American tribes: the Pima and the Maricopa. Currently, over 9,000 individuals are enrolled as tribal members. The Community Council governs SRPMIC, consisting of the President, Vice President, and seven elected Council members.
The community engages in agricultural activities on approximately 12,000 acres, cultivating crops such as cotton, melons, potatoes, onions, broccoli, and carrots. In addition, SRPMIC proudly owns and operates a range of successful enterprises, including Talking Stick Golf Club, Talking Stick Resort, Salt River Fields, Salt River Devco, Casino Arizona, and more. With its breathtaking landmarks like Red Mountain, SRPMIC offers a vibrant and diverse community that cherishes its heritage and pursues economic growth
