South Sudan Red Cross

The South Sudan Red Cross (SSRC) is a national humanitarian organization working to support communities affected by disasters, conflict, health risks, and vulnerability across South Sudan. Guided by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Fundamental Principles, it works through staff, volunteers, branches, and partnerships with organizations such as the IFRC, ICRC, and Finnish Red Cross.

Its services include disaster risk reduction, preparedness and emergency response, health promotion, disease prevention, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) support. The SSRC also provides protection, psychosocial support, and initiatives addressing sexual and gender-based violence, while promoting inclusion and community participation. Its humanitarian assistance has included food, essential household items, cash, medicines, water points, and support for refugees and returnees arriving from Sudan. The organization also helps people restore contact with separated family members and runs activities such as first aid training, flood preparedness, and girls’ empowerment. Through its nationwide branches and volunteers, the SSRC aims to strengthen local capacity, improve access to essential services, and help people prepare for and recover from emergencies.
