About SSE Initiative πΊπ³
The Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative is a UN Partnership Programme organized by UNCTAD, the UN Global Compact, UNEP FI, and the PRI. The SSE's mission is to provide a global platform for exchanges, investors, companies, regulators, and policymakers to enhance performance on ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) issues and promote sustainable investment, including the financing of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The SSE achieves this through evidence-based policy analysis, network-building, and technical assistance.
It conducts research, facilitates consensus-building among stakeholders, and offers advisory services. The initiative is supported by renowned organizations such as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI), the United Nations Global Compact, and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The SSE's vision is a world where capital market signals align with public policy goals on sustainable development.
Its mission is to build the capacity of stock exchanges and securities market regulators to promote responsible investment in sustainable development and advance corporate performance on ESG issues. Through its governance structure and stakeholder engagement, the SSE ensures the inclusion of capital market stakeholders in shaping its strategic direction and work
