About Sam Simon Foundation Assistance Dogs Program
SSF Dogs is a compassionate organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of both people and dogs through transformative services. Their mission focuses on training and placing homeless dogs as Assistance Dogs, specifically Hearing Dogs, to empower individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. These specially trained dogs alert their handlers to essential household sounds, improving their independence and confidence. SSF Dogs operates primarily in California and Oregon, providing these services at no cost to applicants.
In addition to training Assistance Dogs, SSF Dogs facilitates the adoption of Career Change Dogs, who, while not suited for service roles, make loving pets. The organization also offers support for rehoming dogs, ensuring that they can still lead fulfilling lives, whether as assistance companions or cherished pets. Funded by The Sam Simon Charitable Foundation Giving Fund, all services provided by SSF Dogs aim to save and enrich the lives of both dogs and the people they serve.
