Shahrokh Shahi

Shahrokh Shahi is a research scientist, senior AI/ML engineer, software engineer, and adjunct lecturer whose work connects academic research with practical, large-scale artificial intelligence. At Google, he specializes in deep learning and generative AI, including embedding models and retrieval and ranking systems used in Vertex AI Search. He collaborates with Google DeepMind on embedding model development, including Gemini Embedding models, and has led the productionization of embedding and cross-attention models for search, ranking, and recommendation. His recent work includes agentic AI systems contributing to Agentspace and Gemini Enterprise.

Dr. Shahi holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Computational Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he also completed postdoctoral research. His education includes graduate studies at Imperial College London and the University of Tehran.
