About StairAssist Walker
StairAssist Walker, Inc. develops mobility equipment designed to help people navigate stairs at home with caregiver assistance. Its main product, the StairAssist Walker (SAW), combines a rolling walker for level surfaces with a stair-assistance mode, addressing a gap the company says is not met by standard walkers, canes, or other common mobility aids.
Invented by a doctor of physical therapy, SAW converts without installation, electricity, or permanent changes to the home. In walker mode, it has front wheels, a built-in seat, adjustable patient grips, and brakes. For stairs, a caregiver activates the safety lock and deploys the conversion legs, then repositions the device one step at a time while remaining beside the seated user.
Safe use requires a handrail, a gait belt, and a SAW Certified caregiver. The company serves older adults, people recovering after surgery, individuals with chronic conditions, families, caregivers, clinicians, and durable medical equipment dealers. It also offers caregiver certification and resources for clinicians and dealers
