STAK

STAK, short for Stichting Aktiviteiten Gehandicapten, is a volunteer-run foundation based in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. For decades, it has organised leisure activities for people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities living in Zoetermeer and the surrounding area. Its programme is designed to offer opportunities for recreation, social connection, creativity and movement.

Activities include music-making through the De Vrolijke Noot group, with percussion, keyboard lessons and an orchestra; Disco POWER, held monthly; weekly sports sessions; and the Friday Evening Club, featuring karaoke, crafts, bingo, shuffleboard and computer activities. STAK also runs Meerspel, a toy and games library for people who may benefit from developmental support, and an adventurous autumn camp. A dedicated STAK bus can help participants travel to activities.

The foundation operates from premises at the Wereldwijs school in Zoetermeer. Its work is supported by volunteers, donors, friends of the foundation, municipal subsidy, fundraising and modest participant contributions. The Zoetermeerpas can be used to pay these contributions. Prospective participants and families can contact activity coordinators for information or arrange a visit.
