Stanley South is a dynamic initiative focused on enhancing the sustainability and livability of an area rich in history and community spirit, located in the upper catchment of the Twizell Burn, a tributary of the River Wear. This project spans approximately 7 km², encompassing urban and semi-rural areas that include both historical mining communities and modern residential developments.

The initiative aims to address critical issues such as flooding and water quality, stemming from the area's industrial past and ongoing urban challenges. By analyzing and implementing sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS), Stanley South is committed to improving hydrology and enhancing green spaces throughout the community.
