Star Mountain Animal Sanctuary is a Portuguese animal welfare organization founded in June 2022 to provide a safe haven for abused and neglected animals. Based in Quinta Nova, Melo, Gouveia, the sanctuary offers lifelong homes to many animals and temporary care, rehabilitation, and support in finding suitable homes for others. Guided by compassion for all beings, it is a cage-free vegan sanctuary that follows the Five Freedoms and aims to give animals love, space, and freedom.

The organization cares for dogs and cats, with stated capacity for 26 dogs and 30 cats, and works with local government shelters to help dogs find appropriate adoptive homes. It also promotes sterilization of local dog and cat populations to reduce animal suffering and shelter overcrowding. The sanctuary is often full and cannot take in unwanted pets, but it may offer advice on rehoming and help arrange sterilization for pets or other animals. Supporters can contribute through donations, explore animals available for adoption, volunteer, or contact the sanctuary.
