Staro Rīga

Staro Rīga is a light festival that brings local and international artists’ work into Riga’s streets, parks and public spaces. Celebrating Latvia’s national holiday, the event invites residents and visitors to experience light installations, audiovisual works and shared moments across the city. The 2026 festival is scheduled for 15–18 November, with installations open each evening from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Its theme, “unum momentum” (“that one moment”), explores the moments that can change the world or an individual’s inner life, including choices, turning points and significant events.

The festival presents a broad programme of artworks at landmarks and venues across Riga, including the National Library of Latvia, Old Town, Esplanāde, Kronvalda Park and Viesturdārzs. Festival highlights include illuminated buildings, interactive installations, kinetic works and student projects developed through programmes involving the Latvian Academy of Arts and the Latvian Culture College. The Staro Rīga website helps visitors plan their experience with an installation map, artwork listings, visitor information, news, and photo and video coverage.
