About Statkraft
Statkraft is a prominent player in the global energy market, with a strong presence in Nepal since 1993. The company is responsible for the development of the Khimti hydropower plant, located 100km east of Kathmandu, and owned by its subsidiary, Himal Power Ltd (HPL). This plant, with an installed capacity of 60 MW, has been in commercial operation since July 2000 and contributes nearly 15% of Nepal's total electricity production.
Statkraft is the majority owner in HPL, with a 57. 1% share, along with other partners. Apart from operating and maintaining the Khimti hydropower plant, Himal Power Ltd has also been engaged in various environmental and social projects in the area, supporting education, electrification, healthcare, and irrigation.
