Stauffenberg Breeding Racing

Stauffenberg Breeding & Racing is a thoroughbred breeding and racing operation founded by Marion and Philipp Stauffenberg in 1996 under the name Graf und Gräfin Stauffenberg. Initially, their mares and young horses were boarded mainly in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Since 1999, most homebred horses have been born and raised at the family farm, Schlossgut Itlingen, formerly Gestüt Quenhorn.

The operation follows a quality-over-quantity approach, maintaining a select group of usually five to ten broodmares, many bred by the Stauffenbergs themselves. Their work includes breeding thoroughbreds, raising youngstock, managing a racing stable, and offering breeding stock such as broodmares, foals and yearlings. Offspring are sold at major European sales, while some fillies are retained to continue successful bloodlines.

The Stauffenbergs have bred multiple champions, including German Derby winner and Horse of the Year Fantastic Moon. By the end of 2025, their bred horses had recorded more than 420 wins worldwide, competing across Europe and in countries including Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and the United States.
