Steinleben

Werkstatt Steinleben is a stone-carving and masonry workshop founded by master stonemason and sculptor Martin Hertfelder in Urbach in 2015. Serving the Remstal area, the workshop creates personal memorials and offers natural-stone pieces for homes and gardens, with an emphasis on individual design rather than mass production.

Its memorial services include designs for urn and earth burials, memorial plaques, miniature monuments, and small keepsakes for the home. Clients contribute their memories and set the desired budget; Hertfelder listens, discusses ideas, develops the design, and presents a selection of sustainable natural stones suited to the memorial. The workshop also makes natural-stone fountains and water features, indoor and outdoor furniture, garden furniture, sculptures, artistic objects, and pieces for walls and garden landscaping.

Hertfelder completed his master craftsman training in 2012, focusing on design, and has received recognition in national memorial-design competitions. His work includes award-winning designs, among them the memorial stele “Licht und Schatten,” which received a silver medal in 2019.
