Julia and Sofia is a project dedicated to bringing the Oberlausitz tradition of hanging illuminated stars during Advent to Bohemia, Moravia, and beyond. Its featured product, Julia, is a luminous Advent star with 102 points and a diameter of 77 centimetres. Designed with a technical assembly system, it can be put together at home and taken apart again after the season.
The project also presents Sofia, a large paper star intended for churches and halls; the information provided describes a 170-point prototype measuring 1. 76 metres across. The website shares product photos, background on the stars, and information about the project, alongside craft content and updates.
Visitors can find details on where the stars may be collected in Cunewalde and Bautzen, with advance email arrangements requested. The site identifies Jakub Kuncik as the project’s author and provides links to social media and a YouTube channel. Overall, Julia and Sofia combines seasonal decorative products with an effort to share a regional Advent custom with a wider audience
