About Sternwarte Radeberg
The Erich Bär Public Observatory in Radeberg is a community-focused astronomy destination supported by the Friends of the Observatory association. Located on Stolpener Strasse, it shares information about the night sky and invites visitors to explore astronomy through public events and activities. The observatory is generally open on the first Friday of each month from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.; opening arrangements may change, so visitors should check current information before travelling. Admission is free, and donations are welcomed. Groups of ten or more are asked to register in advance.
The observatory’s website features event announcements, current observing information, a gallery, and details about the Planet Trail, as well as information about the association and visitor contacts. A listed upcoming event is a public lecture, “Introduction to Astronomy,” scheduled for September 4, 2026, at 8 p.m. The observatory also provides practical updates for special observing occasions, including advice to obtain eclipse glasses early, as visitor demand can exceed available supplies.
