About Sternwarte
Sternwarte Stuttgart is one of the oldest public observatories in Germany, operated by the dedicated Schwäbische Sternwarte e.V. Being a hub for astronomy enthusiasts, the observatory invites visitors to explore the wonders of the universe through a variety of engaging programs.
Open year-round, the observatory offers evening tours from January to December, allowing visitors to view celestial objects through an array of telescopes, including a historic Zeiss refractor and modern equipment like the Starfire telescope. Special Sunday solar tours are available from March to October.
Visitors can participate in hands-on experiences, where they can operate telescopes under the guidance of knowledgeable staff. The observatory also organises workshops and special events, such as the upcoming ISS transit on July 30, 2024.
With a commitment to fostering public interest in astronomy and science education, Sternwarte Stuttgart serves as an essential destination for anyone keen on stargazing and learning about the cosmos.
