Stichting 3E

Stichting 3E is a Dutch foundation dedicated to advancing technical education and research in electrical engineering and electricity supply—the fields represented by its three “E”s. It supports Bachelor’s and Master’s students, recent Master’s graduates, doctoral candidates, and student associations through financial assistance for activities that broaden or deepen knowledge of the field. The foundation also provides grants and co-funding to technical universities in the Netherlands for research and educational innovation projects.

Stichting 3E offers scholarships to help eligible students and early-career researchers develop their expertise. In partnership with Royal SMIT Transformers B.V., it also runs an annual national graduation competition recognizing outstanding electrical engineering graduates from Dutch universities of applied sciences and technical universities. Candidates are nominated by educational institutions, and the competition concludes with an awards ceremony, typically in Nijmegen in late October or early November. Royal SMIT provides prizes to encourage achievement in electrical engineering and electricity supply.
