STIL

STIL is a Swedish nonprofit personal assistance cooperative that works to develop personal assistance and advance political change. Its central principle is that people who need assistance should have the freedom to shape their own lives. STIL describes this as “the key to freedom” and provides a way for individuals to have their personal assistance through the cooperative.

Alongside its assistance services, STIL supports public debate and advocacy on issues affecting people with disabilities and the personal assistance sector. It publishes reports and commentary, explains changes to relevant rules and collective agreements, and campaigns for improvements such as fairer, indexed assistance funding. The organisation also offers information about working in personal assistance, lists job opportunities, and provides access to legal support.

STIL brings people together through events, courses and peer support, including discussions on current issues and practical training. It shares news, hosts a calendar of activities, and provides contact points and member services.
