About St. Joseph's House
St. Joseph's House is a licensed 501(c)(3) family daycare based in Hyattsville, MD, offering a nurturing environment for school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aged 5-21. Their mission is to provide a loving, home-away-from-home atmosphere where parents can feel confident in their child's care while they work or take respite.
At St. Joseph's House, the unique abilities of each child are recognized and celebrated, fostering a tight-knit community where friendships blossom through engaging activities like games, crafts, field trips, and music. Recognizing the challenges faced by families with children who have special needs, St.
Joseph's House offers invaluable support and lasting friendships. They rely on the generosity of private donors and small foundations to deliver their services and have been serving over 60 families since their establishment in 1983. Led by the Executive Director Natalie LaHood and Associate Director Joe LaHood, St.
