About Friends of St. Marks Wildlife Refuge | Saint Marks FL
Friends of St. Marks Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge in Saint Marks, FL.
With a strong commitment to conservation, our mission is to raise funds, provide volunteering opportunities, and advocate for the refuge. We are actively involved in visitor engagement, public outreach, nature and historical tours, internship sponsorships, and educational programs. Additionally, we offer on-the-ground assistance to refuge staff, including conservation projects and operational support.
Our crucial funding assistance is achieved through donations, planned giving, and our Nature Store and Nature Store Online. Founded in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we strive to maintain and protect the diverse habitats of the refuge. Each year, over 300,000 visitors from around the country and the world explore the refuge's natural beauty, enjoy outdoor activities, and participate in environmental education programs.
Our dedicated community volunteers contribute over 20,000 hours annually to support various projects and programs. Financially, we have raised substantial funds for preservation efforts, conservation biology internships, and other refuge activities.
