About Saint Nicholas WTC
Saint Nicholas WTC is more than just a humble Greek Orthodox Church. It is a National Shrine and a place of pilgrimage for our Nation. Inspired by the words of our Lord Jesus Christ to rebuild His church, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine stands as a beacon of hope and a symbol of resilience.
Designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, this magnificent structure draws inspiration from the Cathedral Church of Hagia Sophia and the Church of Our Savior in Chora. At the heart of the church is The Icon of the Virgin Mary Embracing New York City, a beloved image that symbolizes protection and grace. The church welcomes all to come and bask in the glory of its eternal beauty and to pay tribute to the memory of those lost on 9/11.
As a Shrine for the Nation, it stands strong in its commitment to the Orthodox Christian faith and serves as a place of remembrance and prayer
