About Stopoverdose.org
StopOverdose.org is an educational resource developed by the University of Washington’s Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI) to help individuals and communities in Washington State prevent and respond to opioid overdoses. The site provides practical guidance on recognizing overdose signs, taking action, understanding fentanyl and other drug-related risks, and accessing treatment and crisis support. It explains how naloxone works, compares products, and helps visitors find or order naloxone in Washington. Individuals can order it free for home delivery or pharmacy pickup without a prescription.
StopOverdose.org also shares information about Washington’s 911 Good Samaritan Overdose Law, which protects people seeking help from certain drug-possession charges. Its downloadable resources include brochures, posters, social media graphics, toolkits, training videos, and materials for families, schools, professionals, and law enforcement. The opioid overdose brochure is available in multiple languages, with hard copies available through the ADAI Clearinghouse. The site notes that its content is educational and does not replace professional medical advice, and that its resources are being updated and redirected to the Washington State Department of Health website.
